Three more Customs officials arrested

CHENNAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday arrested three more Customs officials, including two Superintendents, at the Air Cargo Complex in the Chennai Airport here on charges of corruption.
According to agency sources, a special team of the Anti-Corruption Branch investigating the October 24 surprise check, in which a large amount of unaccounted cash was seized, arrested Superintendents of Customs Pallabh Sinha, B. Pugazhendi and Preventive Officer N. Giriprasad. They were produced in a special court and taken into custody for interrogation. The custody of G. Kumar, a suspected mediator arrested from the Air Cargo Complex, has been extended by four more days.
The CBI had arrested nine Customs officials in the case that relates to alleged evasion of import duty.
