Unauthorised slaughterhouses

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday submitted to the Karnataka High Court that there were over 100 unauthorised slaughterhouses in the city and only three licensed ones.

The BBMP made this admission when a Division Bench was hearing a public interest litigation petition by B. Krishna Bhat of Bangalore against unauthorised and illegal slaughterhouses. Mr. Bhat said such structures were polluting the surroundings. He urged the court to direct the BBMP to clamp down on such structures. The Bench asked the BBMP to take action according to the law.
