Woman alleges criminal assault

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old woman has alleged that she was criminally assaulted by two men at a guest house in Darya Ganj here on Thursday. According to the victim, the incident took place when she, along with another woman, had gone to Connaught Place to meet a relative. The woman purportedly introduced her to a man who took her to the guest house on the pretext of explaining to her a chain-marketing concept. He allegedly made her consume a soft drink laced with sedatives, following which she was criminally assaulted by him and his accomplice.

She reported the matter to the police on Thursday afternoon. Following a medical examination, the police registered a case. However, they have not arrested the accused as they are verifying the woman’s version. Enquiries by the police revealed that she works with a Gurgaon-based company. Her husband, a resident of Badarpur, was a property dealer earlier. However, he suffered losses and then fell ill. Subsequently she took up a job.
