Devout gathering: Muslims offering namaaz at the Idgah Grounds in Tirupati. NELLORE: Muslim brethren celebrated Bakrid festival with religions fervour in the district on Saturday. Thousands of Muslims performed prayers at the Idgahs at Dargamitta, Navabpeta, Balaji Nagar and other places in the city and exchanged greetings. Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy, Additional Superintendent of Police J. Kanaka Rao and others participated in the celebrations. Kadapa Special Correspondent adds: Thousands of offered mass prayer at an Idgah near Built-Up Circle and took the blessings of religious elders. Sajjad-e-Nasheen of Ameen Peer Dargah Syed Arifullah Hussaini who conducted the prayer, said Bakrid symbolises sacrifice and benevolence. Muslims, including young children, participated in the prayers. Muslims attired in new clothes exchanged greetings by hugging each other. TDP leader Ameer Babu and others participated. Prayers were also conducted in other Idgahs in Kadapa and other parts of the district.
