Act with social concern, says Judge
Staff Reporter
KARUR: Advocates should act with social concern and interest in their mind and deed. In doing so, they could exhibit their best talents, pointed out District and Sessions Judge V. Ramamurthy.
Speaking on the occasion of the Law Day held here recently, Mr. Ramamurthy said that knowledge of law was essential to all public and officials apart from the members of the legal fraternity. Ignorance of basic laws brings many issues and cases to the court and any basic knowledge of laws could have averted them, he observed.
Tracing the history of Law Day as observed in the country, Mr. Ramamurthy enlightened the audience that the day marked the commemoration of the acceptance of the Constitution of India, on November 26, 1949.
Mere statements that law would do its duty would not mean anything without the awareness of law among the public.
Only if the people were aware of the laws, then the law would do its duty, he remarked.
The District Legal Services Authority, The Karur Bar Association and the Advocates’ Association joined hands to celebrate the Law Day. The advocates took out a rally from the District Court complex to St. Teresa Matriculation School through Rajaji Street, Mariamman Temple, Jawahar Bazar and Government Hospital Road to mark the occasion.
