The Lokayukta police have launched a search in his houses in Mysore and Kolar BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Friday caught Kolar Superintendent of Police K.P. Puttaswamy while he was allegedly accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a police constable. This is the second time that an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police has been arrested on a bribe-related charge. According to a press release, police constable P.P. Prakash of Kolar Town Police Station had applied for voluntary retirement whereas Mr. Puttaswamy had ordered his compulsory retirement before allegedly accepting Rs. 25,000 from Mr. Prakash to amend the order. On November 24, Mr. Prakash approached Mr. Puttaswamy for the order and the latter demanded another Rs. 10,000, according to the press release. Following a complaint, the Lokayukta police arrested Mr. Puttaswamy on the charge of accepting Rs. 10,000. ComplaintsAdditional Director-General of Police (Lokayukta) Rupak Kumar Dutta said that there were a number of complaints against Mr. Puttaswamy’s alleged demand for bribe. The police recorded sequences related toacceptance of bribe.Mr. Puttaswamy was conferred the IPS in February. The Lokayukta police have launched a search in his houses in Mysore and Kolar. Report awaitedDirector-General and Inspector-General of Police Ajai Kumar Singh said he was awaiting the Lokayukta Police report for taking disciplinary action against Mr. Puttaswamy.
