Sir, — The connectivity between the Bangalore City Railway Station and Cantonment Railway Station and Bangalore East Station and the Yeshwanthpur needs to be improved. BMTC buses should ply between these stations round the clock. Similarly, the connectivity between the Kempegowda bus-station and the Mysore Road Satellite bus-station needs to be looked into. for the convenience of the passengers. If the BMTC cannot handle the traffic, let a few private operators be given the responsibility of running buses between these centres. D.B.N. Murthy, Bangalore Reserved seatsSir, — BMTC conductors do not help senior citizens and women in occupying the seats reserved for them when they are occupied by others. Those occupying these seats do not offer them even after seeing women and senior citizens standing. BMTC authorities should take initiative in this regard by instructing conductors and drivers to implement the seat rules. V.S. Ganeshan, Bangalore Electricity chargesSir, — The 40 per cent hike in electricity charges proposed by KERC is uncalled for. The middle class and AEH consumers will be the worst hit. Instead of making efforts to improve and provide uninterrupted power supply, the KERC has resorted to an extreme step of punishing the consumers. The Energy Minister should give a second thought on this issue rather than blindly endorsing the decision. Bescom should put an end to misuse of power, stop free supply to its employees. Many influential industrialists have not bothered to clear their bills. A lot of power gets wasted, especially during the Ganesh festival and other occasions. Inamdar Ramachandra, Bangalore Fares in Volvo busesSir, — Many a time, during non-peak hours and non-peak directions, the BMTC Volvo buses ply almost empty. During such times, they can charge a reduced flat fare of Rs. 10 to Rs. 15, which may attract more passengers and help BMTC in reducing the Volvo losses. G.
