THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala appears set to make good the rainfall deficit of the southwest monsoon of the June-September period with a fairly good performance (so far) of the northeast monsoon of the October-December period. The deficit during the southwest monsoon had come to around 10 per cent. The northeast monsoon is nine per cent above the long-term average as on November 25, according to the latest hydrology update of India Meteorological Department. Against an area-weighted long-term average rainfall of 446 mm for the State for the period from October 1 to November 25, the State received 485 mm of rainfall this time, the excess downpour received touching nine per cent.
