Senior IAS officer shoots self
Atiq Khan
LUCKNOW: Mystery shrouds the death of senior IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Harminder Raj Singh, who committed suicide at his Vikramaditya Marg residence in Lucknow in the early hours of Sunday . What led Mr. Singh, an officer of the 1978 batch, to take the extreme step is unknown as no suicide note was recovered . Even as the Lucknow police investigating the case said the bureaucrat was a blood pressure (BP) patient and might have been suffering from depression, which could have resulted in him taking this extreme step, several theories were floating here about the probable cause of the suicide. One of the alleged theories is that pressure was being applied on him from an unknown quarter for executing a particular scheme.
