CHENNAI: A new passenger information display facility was introduced at the Chennai Central railway station recently. A big plasma television was installed by Armour Display Systems. The plasma TV will display train arrival and departure information, besides advertisements. The Railway has not incurred any expenditure in installing the facility, only the company that set it up paid the Southern Railway a fee for using the station premises. Division Railway Manager S.K. Kulshreshta said since ticket fare had not been revised, the Railway turned to advertising revenue for recovering a part of its operation costs.
