Subsidy sought for pepper growers

Sirsi: V.S. Sonde, honorary secretary of Uttara Kannada District Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, has urged the Spice Board of India to provide subsidy to growers for replanting pepper veins. Pepper is grown as a subsidiary crop in areca plantation in the district, according to a press release here on Sunday. Uttara Kannada MP Anantkumar Hegde has urged the State Horticulture Minister to provide subsidy to pepper growers, as being done by the Kerala Government, Mr. Sonde has said.
