Launching our beta website: beta.thehindu.com The redesigned website of The Hindu was launched on Saturday, August 15, in beta. As the website of a 130-year-old newspaper of record, it retains its core values of independence, authenticity, and credibility while adopting contemporary web design principles, tools, and features. The design is by Mario Garcia Jr., of Garcia Media, Tampa. Florida, USA. The workflow solution is by CCI Europe A/S, Denmark.The web publishing system is from Escenic A/S, Norway. The new design offers a refreshing mix of easy-on-the-eye layout, rich visual content, and intuitive navigation. It is optimised for the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. It has topic-based exploratory and research capability. In a few months, the full content of the old website, including the archive, will migrate to the redesigned website. We will be introducing multi-media content, social media tools, and other advanced features progressively. In the beta phase, readers can continue to visit the old website at www.thehindu.com. They can click on the 'Today's Paper' link in the beta site to go to the old website, which has the archive from the year 2000. Breaking news and updates have moved to the redesigned website. Both websites will have content from the feature sections. Readers can comment on several stories in the beta website.
