CHENNAI: Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday opened Knee Clinic to provide comprehensive check up and treatment for various problems relating to the knee.
The clinic will function six days a week from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at five centres in the country, said Prathap C. Reddy, chairman of Apollo Hospitals.
The aim of the clinic is to offer “a complete resolution for knee pain, starting from prevention through early diagnosis and surgical intervention to rehabilitation. It is a 360 degree holistic approach with equal emphasis on prevention and rehabilitation for knee disorders,” Dr. Reddy said.
The clinic offers “end-to-end package including a dedicated operation theatre and physiotherapy for post-operative rehabilitation,” said Preetha Reddy, the hospital’s managing director.
Actor Sarath Kumar, who launched the clinic at the Hospital on Greams Road here, recalled his experiences at the group’s hospitals in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Launching the knee check up programme, former Test cricketer K. Srikkanth, said knee pain was common among sportspersons.
Common causes
The most common causes of knee pain and disability are arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and injuries caused to the knee by playing a sport.
