NOSTALGIA: Alumni of the St.Joseph’s College, belonging to the 1981-84 batch, along with their teachers during a get- together at the college on Saturday. — TIRUCHI: Alumni of the St. Joseph’s College, belonging to the undergraduate 1981-84 batch, took a trip down memory lane on Saturday at a get-together along with their revered teachers of the illustrious institution. About 110 alumni of the college, many of them holding leadership positions in various institutions across the globe, indulged in nostalgia and re-lived their campus life by visiting the classrooms, the library, had lunch at the hostel and played cricket at the college grounds. The alumni belonged to various majors of the undergraduate programmes of the college. Adding a touch of glamour from the Kollywood were JD-Jerry, directors of the film Whistle, and Anantha Padmanaban, co-producer of the film Achamundu, Achamundu. Joining in the camaraderie were about 45 professors from various faculties. The organisers made it a point to trace the senior teachers from various places and honoured them. Among them were a few septuagenarians such as S.Veerabhagu who taught economics, D.Thomas, an English teacher, and Prof.Vellore, who taught costing. The alumni rejoiced at the fact that some of the senior teachers, such as Prof.Veerabhagu, insisted on participating in the event despite their frail health. A host of serving professors, who had taught the alumni, were also present in strength. With some of the alumni having been sportspersons too in their youth, the organisers did not forget to honour the director of physical education, M.Kasi, who is still in service, and the ground marker Antony.
