14 workers feared killed in accident

Road rage: The lorry that overturned at Chatia village of Orissa, 16 km from Araku in Visakhapatnam agency, on Thursday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fourteen workers of Korlavalasa village of Regidi mandal in Srikakulam district were feared killed when their fell into a roadside ditch at Chattua village on the Andhra–Orissa border on Thursday evening.

According to reports reaching here, a lorry laden with iron rails, bound for Chattisgarh, was going on the Araku - Jeypore Road. Around 15 workers were sitting on top of the iron rails.

The lorry slipped off the road, fell into a pit and overturned while negotiating a curve about 16 km from Araku. The workers were trapped under the lorry load of rails and are feared killed. There was no confirmation on the actual number of deaths.
