Mumbai: Some 13 months before the 2011 ICC World Cup, the cricket boards of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have expressed inability to obtain certain guarantees from their governments. At the meeting of the Central Organising Committee of the 2011 World Cup here on November 9, the representatives of the three countries had said that a flexible policy would have to be followed in matters related to getting Government guarantees. In fact, ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat had urged the three boards to expedite obtaining the guarantees from different government agencies since it had been pending since February 2009. At the same meeting, Sri Lanka requested the COC to allow it to stage some matches during daytime. The timings of the matches have not been finalised. It was also decided at the meeting that if two host nations are drawn to play against each other in the quarterfinals and semifinals, the venue of the match would be determined by the ICC rankings of the two nations, with the match to be held at a venue in the higher-ranked country.
