Srikanth succumbs to burns
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: K. Srikanth, who set himself on fire four days ago supporting the fast-unto-death programme of TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao seeking Telangana, succumbed to burns on Thursday night.
A die-hard supporter of TRS, the youth was pursuing physiotherapy programme in a private college at Tarnaka. He went to L.B. Nagar crossroads on Sunday to participate in a demonstration by party activists in protest against the arrest of Mr. Rao.
While other party workers blocked the road, Srikanth doused himself in kerosene and set himself ablaze. By the time the police and his co-activists doused the flames, Srikanth suffered over 70 per cent burns. He was admitted to Apollo-DRDO hospital where he died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment. Hailing from Nalgonda district, Srikanth used to live in a rented house at Chaitanyapuri.
