Srinagar: The first batch of 400 pilgrims arrived here from Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening after performing the annual Haj, official sources said. The pilgrims on board three flights came via Delhi and were received at the airport by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani and other senior civil and police officers, sources said. Over 7,500 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir performed the annual Haj this year. Seven pilgrims, hailing from the State, died of natural causes in the holy cities of Makkah and Madina during the pilgrimage.
