Haryana to have special schools for physically challenged

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to implement a “Jawahar Social Infrastructure Mission” focusing on the disability sector, senior citizens and children and a budget provision of Rs.150 crore has been made for three years, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said in a message issued here on the occasion of World Disabled Day.

He disclosed that under this “first of its kind project” special schools or institutes would be set up at district level for the benefit of the blind, deaf and dumb, physically challenged, mentally retarded and senior citizens He said another scheme, “Gharaunda”, has been implemented for the benefit of the mentally retarded to provide them shelter for life. It is being implemented on a 50:50 basis by the National Trust and the State Government.
