Seminar on microfinance and poverty eradication

KOCHI: Finance Minister T. M. Thomas Isaac will inaugurate a two-day seminar on ‘microfinance and poverty eradication’ organised by the SCMS-Cochin here on December 7.

An official press release said that G. P. C. Nayar, chairman of the SCMS Group, will preside over the meeting. Various discussions during the event will be led by Arun T. G., professor, University of Central Lancashire, U.K.; Victor Murinde, Birmingham Business School, U.K.; Satta Tadeo, associate professor, Institute of Finance Management, Tanzania; and Samuel Amin, lecturer, University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

The conference is part of the multi-country project on microfinance - the DelPHE project – won by SCMS-Cochin from the Department of International Development, U.K. The study is being conducted by SCMS-Cochin in partnership with British Council, University of Lancashire, U.K.; YAALEX Investment Ltd, Ghana; and Institute of Finance Management, Tanzania.
