MADURAI: Kadambavanam Trust for Culture and Heritage here conducted recently an educational field trip and camp for Standard IX and XI students of TVS Matriculation School. The day-long camp which began at 8 a.m. started off with a yoga session. The students were taught asanas aimed at increasing their concentration and modifying their posture to reduce fatigue. ‘Laughing therapy,’ interactive sessions on sense of belonging, confidence building, how to handle failures and decision making were conducted. A session on ‘nature appreciation,’ quiz contest, and team games were also held. The students were given traditional food such as ‘varagu venpongal,’ sprouts kanji, ragi idiyappam, gooseberry juice, and ‘murukku’ as snacks. Chitra Ganapathy, managing director of Kadambavanam, said that the idea was to introduce to the students ethics and values, Tamil Nadu’s history with emphasis on Madurai, and to kindle their interest in Tamil culture and tradition in an entertaining way. Schools interested in participating in such a exercise can contact Gnanadharshini at 95009 54095.
