Delegation visits institute Technical expertise offered for production of bio-fuel Thiruvananthapuram: The University of Nebraska, Lincoln, U.S., has expressed interest in collaborating with the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI) at Palode, near here, for research activities in several fields. A delegation from the university that visited the TBGRI campus on Friday held talks on the possibility of collaborative research in areas such as food security, environment and clean energy, neutraceuticals and herbal drugs and educational programmes. The team comprising James B. Millekin, president, and Thomas A. Farrell, associate vice-president of the university, visited the facilities on the campus and held talks with TBGRI director A. Subramoniam. The delegation offered technical expertise for production of bio-fuel from the large amount of litter and organic waste generated on the campus. The University of Nebraska is a front-runner in research on production of bio-fuel from algae. The delegation also expressed interest in the exchange of research scholars between the university and the institute.
