Left deputation was to point inconsistencies
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: The Left leaders’ delegation that called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier on Friday in the Capital did so because it felt Dr. Singh should be made aware of the inconsistencies in the viewpoints within his government on the threat posed to internal security by the Maoists, said Left Front Committee Chairman Biman Bose here on Friday.
“The Prime Minister has said that the Maoists are the greatest threat to internal security, but not all Ministers in his government think so,” Mr. Bose, who is also the Secretary of the West Bengal State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), said. “We felt the role being played by some of the allies of the United Progressive Alliance, particularly the Trinamool Congress, should be brought to his [Dr. Singh’s] notice; that is why we gave a deputation to him.”
The ruling Left Front in the West Bengal has been critical of the Trinamool for its links with the Maoists.
