Pilot project

Thrissur: Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar will launch a pilot project for the replanting and rejuvenation of coconut palms. The launch function will be held at the Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara, on Sunday. The project proposed by the Coconut Development Board will be implemented in three districts—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Thrissur. The programme aims at the removal of senile and disease-affected palms, replanting them with quality sapling and rejuvenation of coconut groves by adopting proper management practices, according to a release.
