HYDERABAD: About 70 buses of the State-owned Road Transport Corporation were damaged in the city and other Telangana districts on a single day on Saturday causing an estimated loss of Rs. 35 lakh to the corporation.

Most of the buses suffered damage to their windscreens which were smashed by the pro-Telangana agitators who went on a rampage in several districts in the region to express their support to fasting TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. When contacted, APSRTC Board Secretary Jayanshankar Prasad said they were yet to get confirmation of reports telecast by some channels that some buses were burnt.

Executive Director S. Nagaraj, said that 62 buses were damaged in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Warangal and Nalgonda districts.
