Azharuddin’s pat for Indian team

A Correspondent

Nedumbasserry: Cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin is impressed with the Indian cricket team’s performance in the recent test matches. “It is really good to see them doing consistently well in test cricket and hopefully, they will push forward this momentum into other forms of cricket also,” said the former Indian cricket team captain.

Interacting with media persons during a private visit to Angamaly near here on Saturday, he also appreciated the commendable performance of Sreesanth, the speedster from Kerala, in the recent match. Calling Sreesanth a good fast bowler, he observed that he needed to work more hard on his shortcomings to seal his place in the national team.

“Sreesanth is a talented player but somehow, he just deviated from playing cricket and engaged in some different things. He should keep his focus only on the game and not anything else if he wants to play for long.” he said.

He hoped that more youngsters from Kerala would approach the game in a professional manner following the footsteps of Sreesanth. He took exception to the argument that the advent of twenty- twenty games was a threat to the existence of other forms of cricket.

He, however, cautioned the players to look at seriously the fatigue factor resulting from too much cricket. On future prospects, he named Manish Pandey from Bangalore and Rohit Sharma from Mumbai as promising cricketers.
