At the time of admitting their wards into corporate colleges, the parents express a strong desire to see their children come out with flying colours. Taking undue advantage of such desires, the corporate colleges exert all sorts of pressures on students to secure better ranks. This would ultimately result in unnecessary consternation in weak students and would prompt them to resort to the extreme steps. Therefore, the managements of corporate colleges and coaching centres are requested not to mount unnecessary pressures on innocent students and avoid the most unfortunate suicides. I. Subhash Samuel Ulavapadu Timely decisionEndowments Minister Gade Venkat Reddy took timely decision with regard to Dharmika Parishad. It is appreciable that the parishad was vested with powers to fix and recommend the Hindu festival dates to the government for declaring holidays. It would also help in protecting Hindu religion for the development and protection of temple properties. Another landmark decision is to post the details of properties of all temples in the State on the internet. Besides these appreciable decisions, the Minister should look into the problems of senior citizens also. The temple authorities would not provide rooms to single persons, including senior citizens. There is an urgent need to relax this norm as far as senior citizens are concerned. B.V. Subrahmanya Sastry Bapatla Extend medical aid to all pensionersThe facility of medical reimbursement in vogue now for retired government employees should be made applicable to all pensioners like those who had retired after working in municipalities, other aided institutions as well as those who drew University Grants Commission (UGC) scales and retired from colleges also. Sujatha Naga Raja Rao K Kavali Pensioners’ woesThe news that the government has extended time for submission of Pay Revision Commission report, after saddling it with an additional task of upgrading certain posts to gazetted cadre, at the eleventh hour comes like a bolt from blue for employees and pensioners. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has been showing no concern to these sections whose suffering ascended with unabated rise in prices of essential commodities. The government seems to be considering employees and pensioners as the least-affected among the vulnerable sections. The government however took no time in sanctioning higher emoluments to legislators and parliamentarians as and when they demand it. The government should implement the electoral promises. N.V. Rama Rao Bhimavaram
