dated December 7, 1959 : “Crack” goods trains

It is learnt that the Railway Board has directed the Chief Operating Superintendents of all Zonal Railways in India to take steps to increase the number and area of operation of fast goods trains as “crack” trains. The Operating Chiefs of the various Zonal Railways, who recently met in Delhi, are understood to have given encouraging reports to the Railway Board about the working of the “crack” trains. Their number is now stated to be in the neighbourhood of 400.
