Over 5,000 CDs of Tamil, Malayalam films seized Four persons remanded in police custody KANNUR: Over 5,000 pirated film CDs were seized from four persons during an investigation by the police on Saturday night. The police said that the CDs were seized from Peringathur here and Kanhangad in Kasaragod district by a team led by Superintendent of Police Anup Kuruvila John. The police obtained the information about large-scale production of pirated CDs following the interrogation of Dawood, 25, from Thalankara in Kasaragod and K. Hamsa, 19, from Veerajpeta in Karnataka after they were nabbed from a residence at Peringathur on Saturday with 250 fake film CDs. The police then raided a rented house at Thalankara, occupied by Purushothaman, 50, and K.P. Muhammad, 42. Both were arrested with nearly 5,000 pirated CDs of films, including 1,000-odd CDs of the Malayalam film Pazhassi Raja. The CDs were being produced at the house at Thalankara. The CDs seized by the police also included pirated Tamil and English films and pornography CDs. Those arrested were remanded in police custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate at Koothuparamba on Sunday.
