TDP urges agitators to be peaceful

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has appealed to agitators of Telangana movement not to attack public and private properties, and urged the youth not to resort to suicides as violence would not resolve the issue.

Addressing a press conference at NTR Bhavan, the TDP headquarters here on Sunday, several senior leaders from Telangana, including Nagam Janardhan Reddy, T. Devender Goud, K. Srihari, M. Narasimhulu and others, said it was wrong to think that the issue would be resolved through violence. Referring to the demand of the Congress leaders to spell out the stand of TDP on Telangana, they said the party stood committed to its earlier resolution on Statehood for the region. The party had also sent its views to the UPA sub-committee headed by Union Minister Pranab Mukherjee, while the Congress which had an alliance with TRS, had not yet furnished its viewpoint to it. Asked if the TDP was backing the TRS movement, they said it was not extending support to anybody’s agitation. The party remained committed to its resolution that it would not resort to movements.
