ADILABAD: The Pandalam Raja, Rajaraja Verma Raja, a royal descendant of Lord Ayyappa in Kerala, inaugurated a week-long photo exhibition on Sabarimala here on Sunday.

On display are about 400 pictures related with various activities and rituals associated with the famous Sabarimala shrine captured by local professional photographer Anil Kumar Deshpande over a period of 18 years.

Unique achievement

The Raja complimented Mr. Anil Kumar for his unique achievement.

He said the photographer’s devotion to the task of pictorial documentation of the rituals so impressed the organiser s that he was allowed to snap photos even at the highly sacred Pamdalam pool at the old palace where Lord Ayyappa used to take bath.

He is the only outsider to have been permitted near the place, he added. Mr. Anil Kumar recounted his experience in Kerala where he spends one month every year chronicling the events connected with the Sabarimala and other associated temples.

Among those present were Raghava Verma Raja and Anup Verma Raja, brother and cousin of Rajaraja Verma Raja, Mr. Jagannatham, a devotee from Tamil Nadu and a large number of Ayyappa devotees from Adilabad.
