5 killed in accident

SIVAGANGA: Five persons were killed and five others injured when a lorry collided head-on with a car at Kummangudi Vilakku near Karaikudi on Sunday. Sources said the car, which carried a group of Ayyappa devotees from Puzhal in Chennai, was on the way to Madurai from Pillaiyarpatti. The victims were identified as G. Mohan (45) and A. Thangachamy (60), his son Muniandi (37), driver Madhiyazhagan and Boominathan (26).
While Mohan and Thangachamy died on the spot, two others succumbed to the injuries at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. One person was brought dead to the hospital. Five persons, including the lorry driver Ajmer, were admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital.
