Price rise: UDF plans agitation

Thiruvananthapuram: Women’s organisations affiliated to various constituents of the United Democratic Front will stage a blockade of district collectorates and the Secretariat as part of the coalition’s agitations against the government’s failure to tackle price rise.

Announcing this at a press conference soon after a meeting of the UDF leaders here on Monday, UDF convener P.P. Thankachan said the agitation series would be launched with the blockade of the Secretariat on December 22. This would be followed by blockades of the district collectorates, the dates of which would be finalised soon. Panchayat-level evening dharnas would be held on December 9.

Mr. Thankachan alleged that the government was evading its responsibility of tackling price rise.
