Kakinada: The State Election Commission has announced the schedule for election of sarpanches and ward members of village panchayats in the district. The election notification will be issued by returning officers concerned on December 9. Nominations will be accepted from the same day (December 9) and the last date for that is December 14. The nominations will be scrutinised on December 15. Objections, if any, have to be raised before 5 p.m. of December 16 and their disposal would be done on December 17. Nominations can be withdrawn before 3 p.m. of December 18. The elections will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. of December 23. Counting of votes will be done after 2 p.m. of the same day, according to an official release. HYDERABAD: The commission on Tuesday notified December 16 as the date for publication of electoral rolls of ward no. 31 of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation. It authorised the Commissioner to prepare and publish the electoral rolls in the ward adopting the latest Assembly rolls, with January 1, 2009, as the qualifying date.
