Tirupati
TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will soon be embarking on a new concept - mobile temples - to propagate the ‘bhakti’ cult among the people at the grass-root level. The mobile temples would be custom-made ornamental trucks which would fan into different directions carrying on board the deities of Lord Venkateswara and His Consorts. The mission will be to visit village after village in their prescribed routes in the State so that the villagers, including the marginalised sections, could offer prayers to the deities. A band of a priests, who would be following the mobile temples in another vehicle, would perform to the deities all the daily rituals which are performed to the main deity in the Tirumala temple. The idea is to provide an opportunity even to the underprivileged sections to witness the prime sevas which are normally out of bounds for them at Tirumala because of the demand for the tickets and the prohibitive price of tickets. Another objective behind is not only to spread the spirit of devotion among the masses but also to inculcate among the socially vulnerable sections a love and respect for our religion, traditional values, heritage, culture and ethos. TTD’s Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP), which is precisely charged with this task, would be the nodal agency to monitor the ‘mobile temple’ concept. Live telecastTTD Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao said the programmes of the mobile temples criss-crossing the State would be telecast live. Similarly cultural troupes belonging to the TTD’s DPP, Annamacharya Project, Dasa Sahithya Project would organise cultural programmes and religious discourses in the villages visited by the mobile temples to add to the spiritual ambience.
