Section 144 and Section 30 are still in force and violators would be dealt with firmly by the police. Some of the old cases are being dug out to take any possible offender into custody. Special officers have been posted at problematic areas to deal with the agitators.

More than 15 platoons of police force were deployed in the district as on Tuesday which includes police from Karnataka who arrived here on Monday night. Checkposts are being established and those suspected to join the ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme would be prevented from moving ahead. However, there will not be any restrictions on ordinary people.

Disclosing these details at a press conference here on Tuesday, District Superintendent of Police M. Kanta Rao advised parents to see that their wards do not get involved in violent activities.

Word of caution

“Students might get involved in violence without knowing future consequences. These cases involving damage to government property will haunt them for long without bail,” he said pointing out that former legislator S. Ramalinga Reddy also could not escape from such cases. The SP said that so far, 58 cases were registered and more than 200 persons were remanded as they were involved in incidents of violence. Twelve persons were facing charges of attempting suicide. On an average, around 100 persons were being taken into police custody every day as a preventive measure, he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police Buchirama Reddy and sub-divisional police officer S. Satyanarayana were also present.
