‘Little progress in State schemes’ Chief Minister has been weakened: MP MYSORE: Adaguru H. Vishwanath, Mysore MP, on Tuesday urged the Governor to keep the Legislative Assembly in suspended animation and take over the reins of the administration because, according to him, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government had failed to address the problems facing the State. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, he said that the recent political crisis had weakened the Chief Minister; he had even expressed his helplessness in public. Mine owners, who were his Cabinet colleagues, were controlling him, Mr. Vishwanath alleged. He also said that all development projects had come to a halt. Relief work in the flood-affected areas had come to a standstill. “Except inaugurating the rehabilitation projects drawn up by non-governmental organisations, the Chief Minister was doing little to help the flood-affected people,” he alleged. Mr. Vishwanath recalled that Minister for Minor Irrigation Govind Karjol had recently disclosed that Government had no funds to repair breached tanks. Except for projects taken up under Central schemes such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGREGA) and the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, there was little progress in State schemes, he alleged. “We are not seeking the dissolution of the Assembly and the dismissal of the Government. We are only asking the Governor to keep the Assembly in suspended animation,” the MP said.
