More than 30 teams are expected to participate and 20 of them have already confirmed Competitions will be held in six events

Raghavaiah are also seen. — VISAKHAPATNAM: GITAM Institute of Management of GITAM University is organising its annual all-India B-school students’ meet, Gem, on Friday and Saturday. The biennial event is being organised for the last 20 years and the response this year also was good, even though the participation was by invitation only, said GIM Principal and chairman of organising committee K. Siva Rama Krishna at a press conference here on Thursday. More than 30 teams are expected to participate and 20 of them have already confirmed. “This year a team from Nepal is participating in the Gem and we have plans to invite teams from other Asian countries from the next year”, Prof. Siva Rama Krishna said. Competitions would be held in six events during to test and bring out the inherent qualities of the students who are future managers and HR experts. The events are Beat the Market; Big “Bizz” Tycoon; The Management Rock Star; Brain Zap; Verbattle and Chggy-wiggy. A total prize money of Rs.1.5 lakhs would be distributed in the six events. Gem would also help the students to come into contact with their counterparts from different parts of the country. Beat the Market competitions would be the main attraction of the meet as it would test a student’s ability to manage, knowledge of business methods and his or her marketing strategies. GIM has been ranked as No. 1 B-school in AP in the surveys conducted by the All India Management Association and two newspapers. It is among the top 40 B-schools of the country. Recently the India First Insurance Company selected 24 of GIM students, Prof. Siva Rama Krishna said. Convenor of Gem M.V. Ram Prasad, vice-chairman G. Raghavaiah and students’ convenor Craig Thomas also explained Gem.
