MUMBAI: Sachin Tendulkar occupied a corner of the MCA Recreation ground, going through his routine at the nets on Thursday. The Mumbai U-19 cricketers training alongside the maestro at two adjacent nets, gave him his space by going about their task. He batted against throw-downs, starting with defence before freeing his arms for simulated drives. The sound of the ball hitting the sweet spot rang, the youngsters continued their pre-planned routine alongside, not distracted by Tendulkar’s presence. Tendulkar completed his short session with stretching exercises, then chatted with his Mumbai and India teammate Ramesh Powar.Tamil Nadu coach W.V. Raman walked across from the dressing room to meet the master. Tendulkar packed up and went away from the nets as silently as he arrived. For the Mumbai youngsters, it was a lesson in humility from one of the greats this generation has known. — Special Correspondent
