TIRUCHI: Invited talks on latest developments in ‘Wireless Sensor Networks,’ and presentation of over 20 research papers marked the two-day national level biennial conference ICECON ‘09 conducted earlier this week by the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T). Inaugurating the conference, R. Jayapal, AGM, Combined Cycle Demonstration Plant, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, delivered the keynote address on ‘Data Networks for Industrial Automation.’ The Institute Director, M. Chidambaram, presided over the inaugural session and A. Ramkalyan, Convenor, explained the purpose of the conference. Eminent professionals delivered invited lectures. Radhakant Padhi, Assistant Professor, Aerospace Engineering, IISc, Bangalore, spoke on ‘Nonlinear Control of Lumped and Distributed Parameter Systems using Optimal Dynamic Inversion,’ T. Soundarapandian, Head, VED, CVRDE, Chennai, on ‘Vetronics,’ and N.S. Dinesh, Assistant Professor, CEDT, IISc, Bangalore, on ‘Challenges in developing automated puppetry with multiple Robots.’ According to K. Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, the conference was fourth in the series organised by the department. A pre-conference workshop was also conducted on the theme: Wireless Sensor Networks, she said.
