CHENNAI: Bharat Kalachar on Friday conferred “Gnana Kala Bharathi” on T.V. Sankaranarayanan, “Viswa Kala Bharathi” on Kamal Haasan and Sonal Mansingh, “Natya Kaladhar” on K.S. Raghuram, “Acharya Kala Bharathi” on C.V. Chandrasekhar, “Kala Seva Bharathi” on S.V. Ramanan, “Nadaga Kala Bharathi” on V.S. Raghavan, “Hasya Kala Bharathi” on Chitralaya Gopu and “Yuva Kala Bharathi” awards to 15 young artists on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S. Jagathrakshakan, who conferred the titles on the awardees, also inaugurated the 23rd music festival. Addressing the gathering, the Minister congratulated Bharat Kalachar for honouring the upcoming artists, He also inaugurated the Cornea Project of the Rajan Eye Care Hospital on the occasion. Y.Gee. Mahendran, secretary, said Bharat Kalachar was awarding cultural scholarships to students of PSBB Schools.
