Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Maoists damaged newly constructed building of a police outpost at Salimi under Mathili police station in Malkangiri district on Friday night.According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Malkangiri, Anup Sahu a group of around 30 naxals and some of their supporters reached the under construction building of the police outpost. They broke down a wall of the building. There are reports that naxals used landmine to blast the wall. But police sources say they used traditional digging tools to break the wall.

No one was injured in this naxal attempt as no police man was present at the spot. Maoists had made a similar attack on the Mundiguda police outpost in the area before Lok Sabha polls. After completion of the building Salimi outpost was going to operate as a camping point of the security personnel during the combing operation. So, the naxals targeted it.
