THE CATCH: Workers transferring prawns caught from the prawn pond in Thambikkotai near Pattukottai in Thanjavur district for process and freezing. Prawns are grown in about 3,000 acres in Thambikkotai and harvested after 120 days. It is then sold at Rs. 280 per kg. Farmers in coastal areas are showing more interest in prawn cultivation nowadays. —
