TN sitting pretty

CHENNAI: Leg-spinner Shravan Krishnan claimed six wickets as Tamil Nadu took a 72-run first innings lead over Rajasthan on the third day of its Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 match at the MA Chidambaram stadium here on Sunday.

Resuming on 135 for seven, No. 7 bat Azeem Akhtar completed his half-century as Rajasthan added just 20 runs before being all out.

Later in the day, R. Rohith hit 92, taking the home side to 213 for six in its second innings and extending its overall lead to 285.

Slim lead

At Bangalore, Karnataka took a 35-run lead after restricting Jharkhand to 358 in its first innings.

Jharkhand seemed set to overhaul Karnataka’s first innings total of 393, with Pappu Kumar Yadav completing a well-made century (103 with 15 fours).

Later, Kumar Deborat hammered an unbeaten 116 with 17 fours before he ran out partners.

Bengal in command

Uttar Pradesh faced an uphill task as Bengal set a target of 334 on the third day at the Deshabandhu Park, Kolkata on Sunday.

Haryana takes lead

At Vijayawada, Haryana took a first innings 169-run lead against Andhra. In reply to Andhra’s 161, Haryana made 330 in 113.5 overs with Rahul Tewatia (114) and Rajat Paliwal (108) scoring centuries.

Kerala in trouble

Kerala, forced to follow-on, was 201 for five at close of play against Hyderabad.

At Chennai: Tamil Nadu 227 and 213 for six in 80 overs (R. Rohith 92, Harminder Singh three for 54) vs Rajasthan 155 in 80 overs (Azeem Akhtar 53, Ankit Lamba 36, Puneet Sharma 30, Shravan Krishnan six for 76)

At Vijayawada: Andhra 161 and 10 for no loss in nine overs vs Haryana 330 in 113.5 overs (Rahul Tewatia 114, Rajat Paliwal 108, K. Naresh Kumar five for 59, B. Sudhakar four for 69).

At Bangalore: Karnataka 393 in 119.2 overs and seven for no loss in two overs vs Jharkhand 358 in 159 overs (Pappu Kumar Yadav 103, Babul 58, Kumar Deobrat 116 n.o, Shreyas Gopal three for 94).

At Kolkata: Bengal 300 & 223 in 59.4 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 68, A. Ghosh 46; S. Kumar four for 56) vs Uttar Pradesh 190 in 69.4 overs (Harish Pandey five for 58) & 60 for one in 25 overs.

At Hyderabad: Hyderabad 393 vs Kerala 204 (Sanju V. Samson 41, Akshay G. Kodath 64 not out, Vivek Krishan four for 68, P. B. Parashar three for 24) & 201 for five (Sanju V. Samson 56, P. M. Anfal batting 49, M. S. Akhil batting 42).
