IMPHAL: A combined force of the police commandos and 4/8 Gorkha Rifles busted a camp of the militant outfit, the Kangleipak Communist Party - Military Council (Lamyanba Khuman) group. Disclosing this on Monday night to journalists, the Superintendent of Police of Bishnupur district, K. Jayanta, said that during the raid one militant was shot dead. Some others had managed to escape. Arms recoveredMr. Jayanta further said that the police also recovered two AK 56 rifles with 20 live rounds of ammunition, one gun with 3 shells and some other incriminating items. Meanwhile, police commandos of Imphal West district nabbed two militants of the United National Liberation Front who were “involved” in the grenade attack on the Assam Rifles troopers on November 19 at Singjamei market. Three troopers had sustained shrapnel wounds in the attack. In another incident on Monday, four persons sustained serious wounds in a landmine attack on the truck in which they were travelling at Moreh, the border town. Hospital sources said that the condition of the injured persons was critical. Police believe that the landmine had been planted to target the security forces but the civilians became the victims. Attack condemnedA voluntary organisation, the Hill Tribals’ Council, Moreh, has strongly condemned the planting of the landmine. The “anti-social elements” should be brought to book, the organisation said in a statement.
