Security strengthened in West Bengal

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: Security has been beefed up in the city and other major cities across the State following a report from the Union Home Ministry to the West Bengal government, warning of the possibility of terrorists belonging to the Taliban and Laskar-e- Taiba having entered Kolkata.

The security arrangements were reviewed at a high level meeting with State and police officials that was convened by Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee here on Tuesday.

This was preceded by discussions between the officials and the State’s Chief Secretary, Ashok Mohan Chakrabarti.
