Staff Reporter

HOSUR: A herd of over 30 wild elephants that entered into the human habitations on Tuesday moved to the nearest reserve forest Sanamavu in the night.

The elephants came out of the Karanataka Reserve forest from Jawalagiri and moved around Denkanikottai, Anchetti and Kelamangalam area for the past fortnight and damaged the crops in about 20 to 25 acres.

The elephants moved to the Sanamavu Reserve Forest, four to five km from Hanumanthapuram hillock where they stayed on Tuesday.

District Forest Officer V. Ganesan told The Hindu on Wednesday that the officials and forest staff are monitoring the movement of the elephants.
