GETTING PREPARED: Director General of Police K. P. Jain inspecting the counting centre in Tiruchendur on Wednesday. Tuticorin: Tamil Nadu DGP K.P. Jain reviewed security arrangements in Tiruchendur on Wednesday ahead of the by-poll . Security has been beefed up with the deployment of 2,000 personnel. Briefing the media, he said 10 companies of Tamil Nadu Special Police, four companies of CRPF, four companies of Karnataka State Police and police personnel along with high-ranking officers from the entire zone and outside the zone had been deputed to provide security to ensure free and fair polling. “I spoke to the officers about the duties to be performed and verified the preparedness during the meeting. Everything is in order and election bandobust plan has been drawn up,” he said. The officers were briefed about arrangements for the smooth conduct of polling in accordance with law and order. They should exercise their duty without fear and favour to anybody, he said. Earlier, Mr. Jain made an on-the-spot assessment and took stock of the arrangements at Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur, where the counting would be taken up on December 23.
