BJP plans marches to police centres

Thrissur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take out marches from December 22 to major police centres in the districts to campaign against terrorism and CPI(M)-Congress policies that allegedly promoted terror outfits, party State general secretary A. N. Radhakrishnan has said.

Addressing a press meet on Wednesday, he demanded that a Central agency should investigate cases in Kerala related to terrorism.

“Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley will bring to the attention of Home Minister P. Chidambaram the need for urgent steps to check the allegedly growing terror network in Kerala,” he said.

Mr. Radhakrishnan alleged that People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasir Maudany was making provocative statements over the arson case in which his wife was an accused.

“Mr. Maudany has turned Anwarssery into a Taliban-like centre. Under the cloak of religion, a war-like situation is being created there. He is challenging the judicial, democratic and administrative systems when he sets conditions for the action against Soofiya Maudany and when he threatens that there would be serious consequences if she is arrested," he said.

The BJP leader alleged that the State police was functioning like an ally of the PDP.

“The BJP suspects there are huge financial deals between the CPI(M) and the PDP,” he said.
