Tata Motors launches upgraded Grande MK II

HYDERABAD: Nearly two years after introducing the multi utility vehicle (MUV) Sumo Grande into the domestic market, Tata Motors launched its upgraded version Grande MK II in the city on Wednesday.

Better designed than its predecessor, its exteriors accentuated by new chrome-lined grill, side rub rails and indicators on outer rear view mirrors, the sturdy-looking vehicle has gone in for generous changes. Its interiors sport a fresh look thanks to a two tone theme complemented by faux wood centre console and fabric upholstery.

“The changed drive ratio in the Grande MK II gives a boost to low speed performance in city driving conditions,” said S.G. Saxena, head utility vehicles business, Tata Motors.

Among the ergonomic improvements are a smaller steering wheel with floating horns for easier manoeuvrability and new indoor door handles. It also comes with a height adjustable driver’s seat and state-of-the-art music system.

Besides passengers sitting in the third row will not experience a bumpy ride, as is experienced in most SUVs. “By tuning the suspension, we have provided a car-like experience and hence more comfort to the passengers,” said Mr. Saxena.

The company has introduced three new colours, Walnut Gold, Platinum Beige and Castle Grey apart from its existing range on the latest offering.

It is available in three variants with seating capacity ranging from seven to nine in front and side-facing configurations.

Priced in the range of Rs.6.41 lakh to Rs.7.48 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad), it is priced Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 30,000 lesser than its earlier version and comes with a two-year or 75,000 km warranty, explained Prashant Sibal, regional manager (South I).
